Arm lifts are also known as brachioplasty, which literally means arm reshaping. It is the process of removing excess and/or unwanted skin from the arm area using direct excision (cutting). In some cases, liposuction is also involved to achieve the desired shape of the arm post-procedure.

A small incision will be made along your upper arm, and extending down to the elbow. Sometimes, excess fat is removed through liposuction. Then, excess skin will be trimmed and tightened. Finally, the area will be sutured into place.
Dr. DeMercurio’s staff takes great care to use the minimum incision possible to reduce pain and potential scarring.
Most patients do not experience any severe discomfort during or after the arm lift body sculpting process. Any pain associated with the procedure is typically remedied by use of prescription pain medicine as directed by the surgeon.
Though some scarring may occur, most patients do not experience noticeable scars. In most cases, scarring lasts only a few weeks. Some patients are also able to mask any potential scars with basic body makeup, such as foundation. Post-procedure, Dr. DeMercurio’s staff will discuss scar management and topical therapies to minimize the appearance of any scars.
Most arm lift patients are able to get “back to normal” within two weeks. Exercise routines are typically able to be resumed within four to six weeks.
Results may vary from person to person.
